I went for a walk with God today
We talked. Well I mean I talked with words – He talked with actions.
I asked ‘God where are you?’
And a tree waved at me - swaying - with His wind.
I said ‘God I can’t feel you.’
And a breeze brushed my cheek and gently blew wisps of hair away from my face.
I whimpered ‘God I can’t hear you.’
And then the leaves of the tall towering trees said ‘shshshshshhshshshsh’
I went for a walk with God today.
We talked. I talked with words – He talked with actions.
God waved at me and said ‘here I am. I’m right here.’
God touched my cheek and said ‘you’re worrying. Don’t worry.’
God swayed me quiet and said ‘I’ve got you. I always have you.’
I could have missed it – all that He said.
Head down. My heart silent - I could have missed it all.
And yet, even if I hadn’t spoken –
The tree would have still waved to say ‘here I am. I’m right here.’
The breeze would have still touched my cheek to say ‘don’t worry.’
The leaves of the trees would still shoosh me to say ‘I have you. I always have you.’
I went for a walk with God today. We talked and talked.
I said ‘I missed You.’
He said ‘I love you.’
I have never thought of myself as a writer, and yet, writing in some manner is often my choice of dialogue between me & the world, between me & God. For me, writing can be such a satisfying process when piecing together fragments of inklings or some clarity about God, life & myself; or when I simply want to soak in God's rich blessings. I am happily married & have three beautiful children. I am excited to sample other Christian women's work, as well as have a place for my own written offerings.
