Harriet Smith Guardino

At age 87 the Lord has blessed me with a writing ministry. Recently, the Josephine County Historical Society in Grants Pass, Oregon, published my 240-page memoirs, “Dear John, With Love,” which recalls my childhood during the Great Depression. As a result, I was interviewed by the Eugene Register-Guard, and the interview is scheduled to appear sometime around February 14, Oregon's 150th birthday. I am also praying that the Lord will see fit to help me publish a biography about my son, David Marius Guardino, who was brought to salvation after 35 years as a con artist.

 Writing Pieces

Grants Pass Oregon, population of 9,500 souls, situated on the banks of the famed Rogue River – it hardly seemed like the stopping place for a Four Star Concert. Therefore, it came as a surprise when members of St. Anne’s Catholic Church learned that a group of artists had agreed to fill their otherwise open date, April 29, 1956, in our small town. Included in this troupe were four well-known Catholic artists: Joan Walker, internationally recognized soprano from Dublin, Ireland; Matthew Reilly, the Yankee tenor from New England; and concert violinist Frances Flanagan, a leading exponent of the music of Fritz Kreisler. Topping the bill was the spectacular Polish-born pianist-composer, Severin Turel, who had concretized all over Europe prior to the Nazi invasion.
